Day What? - Foundation Pour

I don't even know what day I am on anymore...So the post titles will change to what what on that day.

Here are the pictures from from 11/18/2014:

Form ready and waiting:

Trucks getting set up.  There was the cement truck and then the pumper:

If you look really close you can see the cement coming down the chute:

The Next picture show the footing being poured:

After pouring the footing they let it sit for about 5 min or so and then started on pouring the foundation.  Here are the pictures from that:

Next one of the workers went through with a trowel and smoothed out the cement (after going through and making sure there were no air bubbles)

Put to bed for the night:

Day 10 & 11

I am going to combine days 10 & 11 since I didn't get a lot of pictures.  It was to cold outside, so I only made a couple of trips out each day.  One of these days I will break down and buy a coat and shoes (i live in sandals) , so then maybe I can stand to be outside in the cold.

Day 10:
They spent a good part of the day using some laser thing, and laying out string to line of the boards for the footing.  They also had to hand dig out the dirt at the foot of the old porch foundation.

Here are the pictures.

The first board has gone down.

Later in the day I came out and this is what they had done.  The rebar is in the form and they are tying the boards together with some sort of bracket things.

Day 11:

The following show the footing.  You can see that they are putting little cement blocks(the little grey things int he middle of the form) under the rebar so that it is not laying flat on the ground.

The last picture shows the plywood up to make the form for the cement pour:

I should have taken more pictures, but as I said it was cold outside, and I really didn't want to go out in the wind.   I think they finished with the forms so then then inspector will come and look at everything before the cement comes in.

Day 9

A lot was done today.  The ground was dug up for the new footings.  You can actually get an idea of house much is being added onto the house.

Pictures for today:

I could here the guys out working with the tools I decided to check it out, here are the pictures:

I was gone part of the day, when I came back the guys were done.  Here are the pictures from the late afternoon:

The pile of dirt from the day:

The only bad thing to happen today, someone took one of the cones we had out.  I know it's stupid, but it still ticks me off when people take what does not belong to them.

It will be interesting to see what they get done tomorrow.

Day 5 through 8

I didn't post anything last week.  Things moved pretty slow, and there really was not a lot to look at.

They spent most of the week trying to replace the sill and rim boards.

Here are the very few pictures that I have for last week.

The rotted boards: You can see where they hit it with the hammer.  It just fell apart when they tapped on the boards.

The jacks:  This is in the basement. (the red poles)

Here is the actual jack (they called it something else) that was used to lift the house:

Part of the sill replaced: 2nd picture is actually has the rim also replace (I was peeking under the tarp they had set up for the night)

Supplies for the footings delivered

The house back all closed up and protected from the rain for the weekend.

DAY 3 & 4

Day 3:
I didn't post anything for day 3.  One of the workers never showed up.  Because of this, they were not able to take down the next section of the porch.  3 people were needed, two to cute, and one to hold the safety rope.

Since one guy didn't show up, they used the time to clean up all the stuff from the day before, and  get everything prepped for Monday.

Day 4:

The rest of the demo was finished.  Below are the pictures from Monday 11/3"

I went out around 11 am, and here is what was left at that time.

The following pictures were taken around noon.  By the time I went out there, most of the porch was already gone.

The dumpster almost full; along with two of the workers...  Marvin on the left, and I think the other buys name was Jeff, but I could be wrong.  I probably wrong.

Of course with any remodel, there are always those hidden issues.  Dry rot.  I don't know what it is called, maybe a sill plate, or ledger.  Anyway we are going to have to jack up the house and replace it.  Fun.

The last pictures are at the end of day... with everything down.

Today the dumpster is suppose to be taken away.  I am not sure what else they will be working on, maybe the sill plate/ledger thing.
